Description

Loose onions are available in both 14kg crates and 20kg crates. 14kg crates are easier to handle, less weight to lift for the person stocking the store. 14kg crates and 20kg crates are available if your store uses either Chep or FCC hiring systems. Loose onions are sized from 68mm to 75mm. These are a slightly bigger onion than the small bags. Customers can choose their own onions when they are displayed in crates, so they have control over quality, size, and amount they wish to purchase.

 

What are they used for

Red onions are a milder and sweeter onion that lend themselves well to being used raw in salads or light cooking in a stir fry. Red onions have the advantage of adding color to your dishes, along with added antioxidants. Marinated Red Onions: If you feel red onions are a little pungent for raw use, they can be marinated in equal parts sugar and vinegar. Marinate for 10-30 minutes, and they will still be crunchy and flavorful, making a nice bright topping for a green salad.
