Onion Bags
Description
Our 1.5kg bag is a smaller bag containing small to medium sized onions (approx 50-68mm size). This bag is a good size for customers who cook for smaller or single-person households, or those who do not have a lot of storage space. The 1.5kg bag is available with either nylon netting or compostable netting and available with Summit branding or Pams branding (for Foodstuffs sales only).
Our 2kg bag is a smaller quantity of small to medium sized onions, approx. 50-68mm size and includes slightly more onions than the 1.5kg bag. 2 kg bags are available in nylon or compostable netting and available with Summit branding or Pams value (for Foodstuffs sales only).
What are they used for
Red onions are milder and sweeter onions that lend themselves well to being used raw in salads or light cooking in a stir fry. Red onions have the advantage of adding color to your dishes, along with added antioxidants.
Marinated Red Onions: If you find red onions too pungent for raw use, they can be marinated in equal parts sugar and vinegar. Marinate for 10-30 minutes, and they will still be crunchy and flavorsome, making a nice bright topping for a green salad.
